The new acting boss of the FBI, Andrew McCabe has stated that he will allow the investigation into the alleged Russian link with Donald Trump’s election team to carry forward.
In a Senate committee McCabe mentioned that his former boss Mr Comey’s firing will not effect the work of the FBI.
The White House says the former head of the FBI had lost support within his own department, hence leaving questions open about his competence in leading the FBI.
However Mr Trump’s critics have gone on the offensive accusing Trump of trying to halt the Russia investigation.
Democrats have been calling for a special prosecutor to take over the investigation, eventhough it does not seem likely.
